Unveiled at the E3 conference in 2008; PlayStation and Zipper’s action game, MAG, was launched at a larger than life event set in London this week. 128 gamers were invited from all over Europe to fight an afternoon-long battle against an “army” of 128 American-based Zipper members. Needless to say that there was blood, albeit virtual.
EI helped to recruit 31 operatives from la creme de la creme of the European gaming world to join the crew in London.
A few trains, planes and automobiles later, the troops were gathered and raring to go. After an army-style briefing session and pie and mash lunch in the ‘mess hall’, the players were sent on to the battlefield.
Several game sessions took place throughout the afternoon, before the main 128 v. 128 battle started. Gamers and supporters were using the #MAG256 hashtag on Twitter to share their reactions – all tweets were displayed on a wall during the event and it’s still a hot topic in the twitterverse.
Well done to all for your energy – and big congratulations @KoosyNL who won a prize for his top-level game playing.
Rock on Raven!!
